Helping put healthy food on tables
Our team rolled up their sleeves to take part in a special session at Foodbank Victoria to help put food on tables across the state.
We’re often talking about the importance of supporting all Victorians to eat well.
Oral Health Victoria's executive team put those words into action in a different way this week – packing 12,338 meals at Foodbank’s Altona warehouse for people in need.
Foodbank Victoria does incredible work feeding nearly 70,000 Victorians every day including through their network of more than 1200 schools and nearly 500 charities across Victoria.
They are also on the road every week delivering fresh food markets and mobile buses where families can collect enough fresh produce a week for free.
And Foodbank steps in to help feed Victorians when disasters like bushfires and floods strike – providing a vital lifeline.
OHV Chief Executive Susan McKee said the number of Victorians fed by Foodbank was “astounding”.
“Supporting the health and wellbeing of Victorians is at the heart of what we do at OHV and we know how vital access to healthy food is,” she said. “It was a truly special experience to help Foodbank put food on tables across the state.”
OHV Chief Operating Officer Mark Sullivan encouraged others to get involved. “We’re proud to do our bit to support Foodbank and we are grateful for the work they do every day for communities across Victoria,” he said.
OHV's team packed 300 hampers of produce and pantry staples and 13 orders for charities. That’s more than 6,175 kilos and the equivalent of 12,338 meals for families in need.
