Working together for prevention
Collaboration was key at the Health Festival Geelong as health professionals and the wider community united for a more sustainable healthcare future.
Our staff braved an icy day in Geelong to deliver crucial oral health messaging to the health professionals and the wider community.
“This is the first time we had been involved with the Health Festival Geelong,” said Nidhi Saraswat, Health Promotion Lead.
“It was a fantastic chance to unite the healthcare community and explore cutting-edge strategies for prevention and care.”
During the Clinicians Hour, Specialist Dentist Dr Tami Yap presented a session on oral cancer screening and prevention.
The session sparked thoughtful discussions and provided the participants with valuable learnings to take home.
Several attendees shared their experiences of the learning journey they went on as they learned more about the subject.
"While they hadn’t initially seen how the topic of oral cancer related to their own work, they left the session with a deeper understanding of the relevance and its connection.”
Our Oral Health Victoria booth also welcomed visitors who were eager to delve into oral health and grab some take-home resources.
This festival showcased the power of cross-disciplinary conversations to bolster prevention and pave the way for a more sustainable healthcare future.
“From oral health to oncology, this festival showed that every area of health is connected and that working together makes prevention more effective,” said Nidhi.
Thanks to Tami Yap, Nidhi Saraswat, and our Population Health team for enthusiastically sharing their expertise.
